What better way to celebrate five years of giving hope than a prom? We hosted our first-ever patient prom at Duke Children's Hospital with more than 100 patients and their guests. We danced, ate, made DIY headbands and corsages (donated by Sweaty Bands!) posed in a photo booth and even smeared whipped-cream pies on Duke staff as part of the fun
The Headbands of Hope Prom: A Night to Remember!
The theme was “The World is Yours.” Guests received passports they could stamp, and took photos with cardboard cutouts of monuments such as the Statue of Liberty and the Eiffel Tower. Food at the event offered guests tastes of Italy, China and more.
After the prom, we received a letter from a patient that said, "Thank you for helping make an amazing night possible. The whole hospital was filled with joy and colors, instead of pain and hoodies. I will never forget my first and best prom!"
A special thanks to Meg's Smiles Foundation, The Monday Life, and Duke Hospital for helping make this dream a reality!
