Last week we went to see the kids at Victory Junction! Victory Junction is a place for children to come together to experience a fun-filled camp. They learn about their talents and are challenged to learn more about themselves. This is an invaluable experience for these incredible kids, as they can come together as one to celebrate and have a normal camp experience.
Every week is a different camp. This week was Pirate and Princesses! They were all dressed up as beautiful princesses and scary pirates. The children that we met had rheumatologic disorders, cancer, and gastrointestinal disorders.
The energy in the room was palpable! The councilors would yell and sing chants while the campers followed.
We had so much fun handing out all of the headbands to the kids while they sang camp songs and ate lunch. They loved being able to accessorize their princess and pirate costumes with the headbands and buffs.
One little girl approached Jess and said, " All I asked for this past Christmas was HOH". That really made our day!
The boys were really taking to the buffs too. They were using them in many different ways to match with their pirate gear. We love being able to spread joy to these amazing children, and can’t wait to go back soon!
